The Monastery Patron – Divine Liturgy on the 14th of September 2012

Hundreds of believers attended the patron of the Monastery “The Exaltation of the Holy Cross”- Caraiman from Prahova district. On this occasion, His beatitude Father Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, committed the Divine Liturgy and blessed the pilgrims and the monks of this monastic settlement.

This year, the monastic parish and the believers from the surroundings enjoyed the presence of the First Standalone of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The Celebration of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is made by fasting and rememberance of the Lord’s Crucifixion, but the liturgical celebration is a beautiful and bright one. The service was committed in the courtyard of the place of prayer, on a dais, so that the crowds of believers should enjoy the attendance and the presence of the servants. His beatitude Father Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, committed the Divine Liturgy and was surrounded by a group of servants of which were father archmandrite Teofil Anăstăsoaie, administrative Exarch of the Archiepiscopacy of Bucharest, father Constantin Naclad, from the Theological-educational Section of the Romanian Patriarchate, father archpriest Costică Dumitru from the Deanery Câmpina, father protos priest David Petrovici, abbot of the Caraiman Monastery and exarch of the monasteries in the mountain area of Prahova district, as well as other priests and deacons.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel ordained to become protos priest the hieromonk Gherontie Puiu, the founder of Caraiman Monastery, “Father Gherontie chose this monastery to be here, close to the cross from Caraiman. Virgin Mary urged him to build a monastery, and here it is, the father sees how the monastery rises and people come to pray and to worship, and to find in the Holy Cross the strength to carry their personal cross, which has the spiritual meaning of a certain helplessness, pain, hardships of life and unhappiness”, said His Grace.
